Efforts to protect commercial tenants from rent-seeking landlords are “clumsy,” says a shopping centre landlord

Simon Johanson writing for The Sydney Morning Herald spoke with SCA Property Group’s chief executive Anthony Mellowes who has taken a swipe at the federal government’s mandatory Code of Conduct saying “there were 27 changes to the code since it was introduced in different states around the country”.

“It’s very difficult to keep up,” he said. “Governments, particularly in NSW and Victoria, are extending it without any basis of any lockdown.”
